Is that Moose Putting on Suntan Lotion?

Can you imagine seeing a moose on the sunny beaches of Florida, California, anywhere in the world wearing sunglasses and a bathing suit? Neither can we, and chances are you’ll never see a moose laying on a beach towel anywhere.

So where do moose (or elk as they are called in Europe) reside? Because of their heavy fur, moose prefer colder climates like those found in the northern regions of the United States, Canada and some parts of Europe. Norway (where the second largest moose statue in the world resides), Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Estonia, Poland and some parts of Russia have large populations of moose. Jamaica, the sunny Greek Isles and South America do not!

Moose love water so you will often find them living in forests with nearby streams, ponds and lakes. Aquatic plants, especially water lillies and pond grasses, are one of their favorite foods, but they’ll also eat the young trees and shrubs found in the colder climates.

As for moose with blue hooves, they tend to travel all over the world in search of other moose like them. If you’re very lucky, you just might find one of them at the beach or pool, in a grocery store or flying on a plane. In fact, you might have a Marvelous Moosey® with you right now searching for another one just like him. Good luck!
